Abstract In order to screen out the medium rice varieties suitable for cultivation in the middle-high altitude mountainous areas of Buyun Township, Shanghang County, six new hybrid rice varieties were introduced for comparative test. The results showed that Guang 8you 199 characterized by the moderate growth duration, agronomic traits, yield and adaptability, and could be popularized as the main varieties in Buyun Township. Zhongzhe 2 you 58 and Jiayou zhongke No. 2 had better comprehensive traits, which could be enlarged demonstration in the future. The yield and characteristics of new varieties were summarized in Buyun Township.
